Biography

Neo Bryce is a filmmaker from Panabo City, Mindanao. He started making films in high school. He was a fellow in the 2019 Ngilngig Film Camp and Filmmakers’ Development Program. His work centers on mental health, the weight of everyday life, and the difficulty of navigating being alive. He wants his films to start conversations, not just tell stories.

In 2019, a film he co-directed, Ano’ng Nangyari Kay Andrew Magsilang?, won the Jury Prize at the Ngilngig Asian Fantastic Film Festival. It was made in 24 hours for that year’s Guerrilla Filmathon. It was later featured in the PPP Short Films section of Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2020.

His other works include a short film about growing up (2019), on the anxieties of work and life, and Condolence (2019), developed through the Ngilngig Filmmakers’ Development Program, on the complexities of a death in the family. His short Wala, about a young woman looking for employment, won Best Director and Special Jury Prize at the 2022 Mindanao Film Festival.

His first feature length film, Sandy, is currently touring festivals and local venues.
