Saiyaara

**This review contains major spoilers from the movie 'Saiyaara'. Please read only if you've seen the film or don't mind key plot points being revealed.**

Saiyaara is one of the most heartfelt love stories of this generation. What makes it so impactful is not just the romance, but the emotional weight the characters carry. The story is driven by pain, memory, art, and the strength of choosing someone even when they might not remember you the next day.

**Full Story with Analysis:**

- Vaani Batra, the female lead, is introduced in court where she receives a call from her fiancé. He confesses that he's with another girl for professional gain and breaks the marriage. She faints out of shock.
- Vaani is recovering from trauma. She suffers from memory issues and writes everything in her diary. Her past has broken her so badly that she tears away memories she doesn't want to remember.
- Krish Kapoor, the male lead, is a struggling singer who first meets Vaani when he finds her diary. He reads her words and unknowingly uses them as lyrics in a public performance.
- Their relationship begins as strangers, then partners. They start writing music together. But they're both broken: Vaani from betrayal and illness, Krish from a shattered family and his alcoholic father.
- One of the most moving scenes is the net cricket ground where Krish tells Vaani to imagine he's Virat Kohli and hits a six to express his dream - to be famous, to be remembered. The emotion here is so raw, it sets the tone for the film's deeper themes.
- As they grow closer, Vaani and Krish help each other find purpose. But life doesn't slow down. Krish's father becomes a burden, and Krish has to sell his music (without credit) to afford his father's treatment.
- In one of the most heartbreaking scenes, Krish throws money at his drunk father in public, yelling "Is this what you want?" Vaani watches this and understands his pain.
- They eventually become a couple. There's an intimate moment between them where they express love physically. It doesn't feel forced - it feels like two people clinging to something real in their falling worlds.
- Vaani's illness worsens. She collapses again and again. Doctors suggest neurological attention. Her parents want her to marry, thinking it will stabilize her. Krish proposes, but Vaani declines, knowing she'll forget everything soon.
- At a party, Vaani encounters her ex Vinit. Because of her memory loss, she thinks they are still together. He tries to touch her, but his wife appears and throws Vaani out.
- Krish, before flying out, hears what happened and finds Vaani's bag - and inside it, her medical report. He realizes the truth: she's going to forget everything.
- In a scene that hits hard, Krish finds her at the cricket ground, unable to hit a ball. He holds her hand and teaches her again. Vaani says "Leave me, I'll forget you." Krish replies: "If you forget this moment, I'll create 10, 100, 1000 new ones."
- Vaani stabs Krish accidentally during a memory collapse. But he forgives her. Later, she disappears.
- Krish finds her diary and discovers a song written by her meant to stop couples from separating. He performs it across India hoping to find her.
- A year later, he's a star. In London, he sees a clip of her in an NGO. He goes there and receives a letter from her - asking him not to follow her because she's losing control.
- When they finally meet, she doesn't recognize him. She asks, "Who are you?" Krish says he's a singer, and she's a writer.
- He takes her to a snowy ground and recreates the cricket moment. She watches him hit 4 runs and repeats: "I love you, Krish." Again. And again. She remembers.
- The final scene shows him singing "Saiyaara" in a concert. The audience sings it back. Vaani is with him. They hug. They kiss. Love wins.

**Why This Works:**

- Saiyaara doesn't run on clichés - it runs on truth.
- It's about two people carrying their traumas but still choosing to walk together.
- Memory loss is not used for drama - it's used to test the strength of love.

**Most Powerful Message:**
Even if the mind forgets, the heart remembers.

**Verdict:**
Saiyaara is a masterpiece of emotional storytelling. It's not for everyone. But if you've ever loved someone so deeply that you were willing to stay even if they forgot you - this movie will break you and heal you at the same time.

5 out of 5 stars. Highly recommended with all my heart.
