### **Review: *Blood for Blood (2012)***

**Score: 7/10**

*Blood for Blood* (originally *Infiltrant*) is a solid, gritty entry in the European revenge-thriller genre. It succeeds on the strength of its grounded premise and a compelling, understated performance from its lead, Raymond Thiry, who convincingly portrays a man of methodical precision unraveling into single-minded obsession.

The film’s greatest asset is its authentic, grim atmosphere, plunging the viewer into the gray, brutal reality of Amsterdam's criminal underbelly. The plot is straightforward and effective, driven by a relatable motor of grief and betrayal. The tension derives not from elaborate twists, but from the visceral danger of the protagonist's self-imposed mission and the moral decay he must embrace to see it through.

Where it stumbles is in its execution. The pacing can be deliberate to a fault, and the supporting characters—particularly the criminals—often feel like generic archetypes rather than fully realised threats. The climax, while satisfying in its gritty realism, follows a somewhat predictable path, missing an opportunity to deliver a truly memorable or subversive punch.

**Verdict:** A well-crafted, no-frills thriller that delivers exactly what it promises: a dark, plausible journey into vengeance. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but for fans of stoic, European crime dramas in the vein of *The Square* or *The Berlin File*, it’s a tense and engaging watch. It earns its score for commitment to tone and a strong central concept, even if it lacks the narrative spark to become a classic.

**Watch if:** You appreciate slow-burn, character-driven revenge tales and gritty European noir.
**Skip if:** You require fast-paced action, complex plotting, or charismatic anti-heroes.
